Our Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is located in the School of Medicine of Medical Sciences Campus of the University of Puerto Rico in the San Juan.

Our school is part of a large medical complex which includes the University District Hospital (for adults), University Pediatric Hospital, the San Juan City Hospital, the Industrial Hospital, the Oncology Hospital, the Veterans Administration Hospital, the Puerto Rico and Caribbean Cardiovascular Center, the local Red Cross Blood Center, and the centralized services facilities of ASEM (“Administración de Servicios Médicos”: Administration of Medical Services). ASEM harbors a large Clinical Laboratory with Transfusion Service, the Anatomic Pathology Laboratory, Outpatient Clinics and Operating Rooms.

Our faculty is composed of ten full time pathologists with sub-specialties/areas of interest covering Anatomic Pathology, Cytopathology, Pediatric Pathology, Neuropathology, Hematopathology, Immunohematology/Blood Banking, Breast Pathology, Clinical Microbiology, Toxicology, Gastropathology, Urologic Pathology, Gynecologic Pathology and Endocrine Pathology. Two PhDs are dedicated to Viral Pathology and Parasitology and two Ad-Honorem faculty members are dedicated to Dermatopathology and Oncologic Pathology.

We offer a fully accredited four year combined program in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and also a three year program in Anatomic Pathology.
